Spring is in the air. Baseballs flying everywhere. The crack of the bat. The smell of freshly mowed grass and the sweet scent of glove conditioner permeate the warm breezes as trusted leather gloves are brought back into playing condition and new catcher's mitts are readied for a long season of faithful performance. The cheer of the crowd. The cries of the vendors. "Hot dogs. Peanuts. Cold drinks."
Ahhhhhh...... yes. Spring is here again. Time to put away the football cleats and blocking dummies. Cross country skis and snowboards are cleaned and stored. Basketball games move from indoor to outdoor courts. Cheerleaders practice in the warm sunshine. A discus flies through the air as shot puts leave their marks in the soft ground. High jumpers. Pole vaulters. Hurdles. Sprinters and long distance runners.
And, of course, a new baseball season. Spring training. Endless conditioning drills. Sore muscles. Excitement and optimism about the approaching season. Looks like a great team this year. New uniforms. New spikes. Sun. Sweat.
